My Journey With Tapping
I came to learn about EFT/Tapping when someone introduced it to me as a way I could overcome smoking cigarettes.
I rolled my eyes as he took me through the different Tapping points. As he was leading me through he was saying things “I want to quit smoking” “I have a need to smoke” and something inside of me was like “Ha! The joke’s on him because I love smoking and want to keep smoking.” Then, 11 years later, in the depths of a dark night of the ego, I began Tapping and it saved my life.
My path has been bringing me to Peru since 2010 when I came to the Amazon jungle for the first time.
I began working with Ayahuasca and every year I would come down to the jungle to sit with the medicine. Every year I would go back and drink and after a while I was thinking what is this for? I see something and feel things, but then what? What am I supposed to do with this? After dieting with other medicinal plants and Ayahuasca in 2017, I returned to the states with no intention of staying for long. I am a big believer in the Universe (a.k.a. God), and the Universe had a different plan for me. I was not able to return to Peru for 4 years.
No more escaping the triggers. Time to learn from them.
And so I was triggered, and so I learned all the hard lessons of my ego. It felt like being beaten down from the inside. It was torture and I suffered. And then something lit up in me, just a little bit… a desire not to suffer anymore and a knowing that I was not what was inside me suffering. I was something more.
So I had all these tools that had been introduced to me, but I wasn’t using them.
How can the tool work if you don’t put the tool into action. A friend of mine began posting about Tapping and I began to join her circles. One by one I began using the tools and realized this whole time I was in a deep Integration process with the plants. I kept using the tools and was able to liberate myself from the victim I had built my whole identity around.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT aka Tapping)…
…got me to a place where I could love myself again; love myself enough to take care of myself again. I was able to quit smoking, as well as other addictive behaviors, and I was able to heal, or at least process, much deeper wounds.
In 2022, I was finally able to come back to Peru, but this time I wasn’t escaping to Peru.
I wasn’t approaching the medicine like I needed it to heal me. I was healed and I healed myself. The medicine was there now to show me other parts of me that needed to be loved and accepted. Now Tapping became an intricate part of the Integration process. Me, affecting my energy, and no longer looking outside of myself for healing.
